W2CB #36: Winter Is the Time for Comfort

Hi, everyone! Happy Day After!

Sybrina here with a quick reminder that our Winter Is the Time for Comfort Challenge is still accepting entries (cards and/or projects) and will be open through January 4.

This month's words are brought to us by Edith Sitwell.

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth,
for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire:
it is the time for home.

You can scroll down or click here to see the original post.  And, remember there are two ways to win a Simon Says Stamp gift certificate!

  • Our challenge winner will receive $10 to Simon Says Stamp.
  • One randomly selected follower will win $10 to Simon Says. Not yet a W2CB follower? Sounds like a perfect time to join.   :)

Here's an oldie-but-goodie of mine from December 2015 for a little inspiration.

Hope to see you in the W2CB Gallery. We'd love to see what you make using a few of those crafting goodies Santa left behind.  :)

W2CB #36: Winter is the Time for Comfort

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth,
for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire:
it is the time for home.
                                                                                                               Edith Sitwell

We couldn't have captured the spirit of this wondrous season any better ourselves. So, as we engage in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we took a little time to use these words for some crafting inspiration.

Annie was reminded of the warmth of a homemade quilt, Bobbi of a wintry neighborhood street, Marty of a vintage holiday scene, and Penny of a decked-out snowkid. As for me, I made a first-Christmas ornament for a new neighbor.

Here's how the W2CB gals interpreted these heartfelt words.  :)

So, maybe this month's words will bring to mind a favorite holiday dish, the unexpected kindness of a stranger, or some stockings hung by the fireplace. We'd love to see how this quote speaks to you.

As always, our challenge winner will be invited to join us a Guest I-Teamer for a future challenge. And, just like last month, our challenge winner and one lucky follower will receive $10 gift certificates to Simon Says Stamp.

Ready... set... craft!

W2CB #35: Small Hearts, Large Gratitude

Hi, everyone! Sybrina here with a quick reminder that there's still time to play along with our Piglet-A.A. Milne-inspired thank you card challenge.

For our original post, please click here.

  • Our challenges typically run until the first Wednesday of each subsequent month. However, I noticed that our linky collection is open for another two weeks. If my math is correct, that takes us to Monday, December 12.
    • 'Tis the season, right? So, you have a little extra time to play along with this challenge. Plenty of time to link up a last minute thank you card.   :)
  • And, we have two Simon Says Stamp gift certificates to award!
    • One will go to our challenge winner.
    • One will go to a randomly selected follower.

So, we look forward to see your handiwork in our W2CB Gallery.

And, we'll be back on the next second Wednesday (December 14) with a holiday-season inspired challenge.  :)

W2CB #35: Small Hearts, Large Gratitude

Hi, everyone! Sybrina here on a Words 2 Craft By Wednesday.

This month's inspirational words come to us from the Hundred Acre Wood.

Piglet noticed that even though he had a Very Small Heart,
it could hold a rather large amount of Gratitude. ~~ A. A. Milne

Let's take a look at how our W2CB gals interpreted these sweet words, starting with Guest I-Teamer Anne Slattery. Anne is a card maker and shipper for Send a Smile 4 Kids... and she makes the best kiddie cards. Welcome, Anne!

W2CB #32: A Single Step

Hi, everyone!  Sybrina here with a Words 2 Craft By mid-challenge post.

Our current inspiration words come to us from Lao-Tsu: The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.

These words inspired me to take the steps of picking up a box of cupcakes, wrapping them up with an SU ribbon and a homemade tag, and delivering them to our new neighbors... who have embarked on a big journey with their move to a new city.  :)

Sybrina

Our challenge runs until September 7. We are equal-opportunity-crafters at W2CB, and all quote-inspired projects are welcome. And, there are a couple of  MFT gift certificates up for grabs.

You can click here to go to the original post and Linky. Hope you'll join us for our August/September challenge.  :)

W2CB #32: A Single Step

Hi, everyone!  Sybrina here with a new challenge as summer winds down and a new autumn approaches.

Our August/September words are:

The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.  ~~ Lao-Tzu

Let's see how this quote inspired our W2CB gals.

Annie

Bobbi

Penny

Sybrina

So, what journey lies ahead for you and your loved ones?
  • Maybe it's still summer vacation in your neck of the woods, and your family's taking one last road trip before a new school year begins.
  • Perhaps school is right around the corner, and you are in the midst of getting your kiddies ready for the first day of kindergarten/middle school/high school... or a loved one is preparing for  his/her very first day of teaching.
  • Possibly you have a son or daughter leaving for college, which finds you adapting to an empty-nest household.
  • Maybe your family's celebrating a late summer wedding, with a young couple beginning a new life as bride and groom.
  • Or, perhaps you have a friend competing in the Olympics. How cool would that be?!

Whatever the journey, we'd love for you to share your card/project with us. This month, there are three ways to win.
  • One follower will be selected at random to win $10 to My Favorite Things. If you haven't yet signed on as a follower, this would be a great time to join our W2CB family of crafters.
  • In addition, one crafter who links up a card/project will be selected at random to receive $10 to MFT.
  • Finally, one crafter will be selected as the challenge winner and invited to join us as a Guest I-Teamer for an upcoming challenge.

W2CB #31: Just Keep Swimming

Happy Summer, W2CB friends!  Annie here with July's Challenge and it's a good one!  How many of you have seen "Finding Dory?"  As of this writing, I haven't seen it yet but I'm hoping to soon.  She's my hero and one smart little fish!  If you've seen "Finding Nemo," then I'm sure you remember this memorable line and our inspiration for this month:

Source: disneyquotesblog.blogspot.com/

As always, any project (card, tag, scrapbook page, etc.) is welcome and we love to see your creative interpretations.  For this theme, think about offering words of encouragement, never giving up, keep on trying, or anything motivational.

Our Guest I-Teamer this month, Debi B., makes quite a splash with her card.  Thanks for joining us this month, Debi!  Please stop by her blog thatmightlookgoodonacard.blogspot.com and leave her some love!

Here's some additional inspiration from the rest of the I-Team:

W2CB #30 New Beginnings

Hey crafty friends, Penny here today with the June/July challenge.

Pulling from the big World Wide Web at Bitsofwisdom.org, what phrase could be more suited to a challenge involving Dads, Grads & Weddings:

This is the beginning, of anything you want.

Speaking of new beginnings, Greta is beginning some new adventures of her own.
Unfortunately, this means that she will be leaving our merry team of designers.
The only thing we'll miss more than her amazing cards is her kind and generous spirit.
Thank you Greta, for being such a wonderful team member.
Lucky for us, we can stop by and visit you at your blog anytime we want.  :)

With examples you are going to see below from the Inspiration team, isn't it lucky that you can just CASE (Copy And Share Everything) for your next creation?!?

Let's start off with Greta's beautiful and inspirational card.
Loving the watercolor background!!!

Sybrina was inspired to create a retirement card for a good friend...talk about new beginnings!
Love, love, love the sentiment!!!

Bobbi is celebrating her son's graduation with a special scrapbook, here is the last page:
Love the Gold confetti in the background.

http://bobbistreasure.blogspot.com/2016/06/words-2-craft-by-june-challenge.html

Bobbi

Annie has a niece getting married soon.
How stinkin' cute is this wedding card?!?

Annie

My oldest and his wife are celebrating an anniversary, but this would make a perfect card for a wedding also.
Penny

So, how do these words inspire you?
This is the beginning, of anything you want.

  • Maybe you'll be inspired to make a wedding or anniversary card for that special couple.
  • Or, maybe you'll make a thank you card, I love you card, or create something wonderful for a father celebrating his first Father's Day.
  • Who is graduating Kindergarten, Nursing school, Police Academy? It is not always about High School or college.

Whatever the inspiration, we hope you'll share your card/project with us. A Guest I-Teamer invitation and a $10 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp will be awarded to the winning entry.
The challenge is open for three weeks and closes July 6, 2016.

Now go...go show us what you can create!
